About Quereba Bed & Breakfast

I am Dan Makhoba, and together with my wife, Kedi, we built what is now known as Quereba Bed & Breakfast, a home born from love, faith, and family.

Our story began in 2010, when we decided to expand our family home. What once was a humble three-bedroom house became something bigger, a home that could hold more dreams. We added a new main bedroom, a spacious bathroom, an outdoor kitchen, and even a drive-through garage. It was a labour of love, and when it was done, we stood back and admired what we had built.

But soon, life changed, our two eldest children left for boarding school, and our youngest was preparing to follow. The house, once full of laughter and movement, suddenly felt quiet. It was beautiful… but it was also empty.

Then came a moment of divine clarity.
We realized that this wasn’t the end of something, it was the beginning of something new.

In 2012, we made the decision that would shape our family’s legacy: we would open our home to others. My wife, Kedi, inspired by our three children, Queen, Reitumetse, and Aobakwe, took the first letters of their names and formed Quereba. That name became more than just a title; it became a story, a prayer, and a promise.

By early 2013, Quereba Bed & Breakfast opened its doors in Mahikeng (Mafikeng). We welcomed our first guests with the same warmth and care we had always given our own children. People came as travelers and left as family. Many returned, not just for our rooms, but for the peace and love they felt within our walls.

Over the years, Quereba has grown into more than a business, it’s a living piece of our family story. It’s where faith met purpose, and where an empty nest became a home filled with life again.

Today, our children carry this vision forward. Aobakwe and his wife, Charmaine, continue to nurture Quereba’s heart, serving guests with the same sincerity, joy, and excellence that began all those years ago.

To us, Quereba Bed & Breakfast is more than a place to stay, it’s a place to belong. A home that opened its doors to the world, and found the world stepping in with gratitude.
